Thankyou! The brain fog does get better I promise. Although the logistics of 3 (slightly) bigger kids then kick in so my brain can still feel like mash some days. New to these posts and love them as I really miss the High Low!
Few beauty bits back…
Huda cream blush is great (love the pixi too)
Elf lilac cream eyeshadow if you are into blue this is a lovely alt
Manicurist active glow a great nail strengthened with tint of pink if you want an alt.
Radiolab (my favourite podcast) did an episode where Heather Radke talks about her book on butts! And the episode then meanders further in a super interesting way. Would highly recommend!
Can I recommend Mrs Bridges as a novella. It’s a short book from the 1950s, but it tells a woman’s entire life in vignettes. Every ‘chapter’ is a different, often inconsequential, daily incident and can be only half a page- at most 2-3, so perfect if you don’t have much time.
Yes - I love this little known book, too! It's like an evocative snapshot of that time and place and lifestyle. There is also Mr. Bridges, but it's not as good...
The weirdest thing about my Apple autocorrect is that it often puts in non-English words instead of whatever I'm trying to say. It's bizarre, and I often feel like I'm on some sort of Candid Camera and some tech person somewhere is making fun of me!
How lovely that you know it too! It is exactly as you describe, almost like opening the windows of an advent calendar into a different world. Gently profound as well.
I find it so fascinating how much our attention span has been affected by our phones/social media, especially when it comes to consuming long-form content! I often find that if I want to watch a film and completely focus I have to watch it at the cinema because I won’t get my phone out & there’s no option to pause or rewind but when I’m at home, I don’t always take it all in, esp when it’s long films
A wonderful podcast on the butt by Radiolab is this one: https://radiolab.org/podcast/man-against-horse. "It’s a story about how you got your butt, why you have your butt, and how your butt might be one of the most important and essential things for you being you, for being human." A great example of excellent science reporting, and very funny too.
The Merit blush is $30 in the US and available at Sephora there. They must just be charging crazy prices to sell it in the UK. See if someone can get some in the US for you because it’s really good!
