I’m away for a few days getting some R&R, so in lieu of my usual batch of culture recs—and by special request, from one of my best friends—here are my top 10 books “not from the last 3 weeks, but from the last 3 years”. Except I couldn’t do 10. I’m not a monster. Instead, I give you 15.

This list is not perfect. It is changeable. In fact, I will probably change my mind the instant I publish it, and so I’m actually going to release it into the Sub-ether very quickly, without my endless pruning, because otherwise I will remember a book that I didn’t include and feel agonised by its absence.
